Salida Bike Fest 2014; Banana Belt Race
This weekend here in sunny Salida, Colorado is a celebration of all things bicycle; The Salida Bike Fest. There are bicycle films, bike rides, a few races, a parade plus lots and lots of bicycles all over town; beautiful! Friday evening was the notorious chain-less race. Sunday is the Crest Crank that takes riders on the most spectacular, Monarch Crest Trail. Saturday, under perfect weather, was the 2nd riding of the recently resurrected Banana Belt Mountain Bike Race. While I did participate in last year’s Banana Belt, after last weekend’s punishing Vapor Trail 125, I really did not have any motivation to race today. Fortunately, there were many other happy cyclists eager to challenge themselves on this fast yet demanding 26mile loop. Below are a few pictures from the race. Congratulations to all!!
