Elvis Has Left the Building
Like all good things, my UK tour has come to it’s end in the the beautiful city of Inverness, Scotland. Though I had hoped to finish on the Isle of Wight for the Bestival in September, I am very happy with what I acheived these past nine weeks Although, returning home to deal with a nasty toothache is a bit of a bummer. By the numbers, here’s how the tour turned out:
*over 2500 miles or, 4000kms
*nine weeks of riding with just 6 days off, although, on two of those I still went out for a ride
*four countries; England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland
*zero flat tires
*one broken Brooks B-17 titanium saddle
*thousands of pictures
*several new friends
*two tattoos
*countless memories and many valuable lessons learned.
Most importantly, I [re]discovered England. Though my country of birth, a place I’ve never really known as home. It has been wonderful to reunite with family, make new friends and really explore my homeland.

The past two months–and the four spent touring the US Pacific coast last fall–provided me with an unparalled opportunity to relfect on the death of my mother last spring. I also return to Canada with renewed vigor a greater sense of purpose.
You may be wondering where I’ll tour next. To be honest, I’m not sure, although, I will return to Ontario for the 100km Paul’s Dirty Enduro MTB race September 17th, as well as a couple of weeks mountain-biking in Colorado.
Rides that I am contemplating include a cross-Canada tour; the Continental Divide Ride mtb ride with my buddy Reilly; a tour through South-East Asia.
Since I may be posting a little less regularly now, please send me your e-mail address if you would like me to notify you once I resume touring and posting more often.
In the meantime, all I ask is that you take one thing from my blog and my adventures; the confidence to live life to the fullest. If you can, do it on two wheels.
With all my love and thanks,

Your last statement says it all, “In the meantime, all I ask is that you take one thing from my blog and my adventures; the confidence to live life to the fullest. If you can, do it on two wheels.” I have enjoyed seeing and reading all of your photos and stories along the way, thanks for the ride!
