Yes ladies and gentlemen, it’s that time of year again. That special time when hundreds of two-wheeled devotees descend upon the Big Bend for three days of mountain-biking goodness. Yup, it’s the Chihuahuan Desert Bike Fest!

Desert Sports has been buzzing all day with folks showing up from all over the south-west and beyond. Registration kits are being picked up, bikes are getting some last minute attention and old friends are reuniting under the warm desert sky.

For the next three days, about 500 cyclists will ride in the Big Bend National Park, the Big Bend Ranch State Park and the Lajitas Resort trails.  There are short rides, long rides, kids rides and even a geology tour. There are also several high-end demo fleets, boxes of prizes for the raffle and an absurd amount of complimentary beer. Best of all, is the really chill, laid-back atmosphere that defines this event. Not a race, not for bragging rights, this is where you get to hang out with your friends and simply ride your bikes.  It’s a simple thing, but it’s what we like to do down here in west Texas.  Come join us!
