Cute that kills is still a killer

Many posts ago and while making my way along the Columbia River Gorge, I mentioned how I heard the sound of rattlesnakes laying amongst the dry rocks. I also mentioned how I did not stop to try and get a couple of pictures. Well, while riding towards Felton, CA a few days ago, it wasn’t the sound of the rattlesnakes that caught my attention. Rather, it was the baby rattler sitting near the edge of the road that caught my eye.

Stopping a couple of feet away with the bike between us, I watched as this tiny terror shook its tail, curled back and even lunged violently towards me. 1. Hi Alex,
I am going to ask you one question about the snake. Were you scared whenever you heard and saw the snake?

  2. Thanks for all your comments! Although I wasn’t scared of the baby rattlesnake, I did respect it enough to keep my distance. The venom of a baby rattler an be even more dangerous than the venom of an adult rattler, so it is very important to keep clear. I kept a few feet away from this one, and after a couple of minutes, got back on my bike, said goodbye and rode away. Very cool!
