Information animal vegetable and mineral














After a very enjoyable evening spent with friends Dru and Trevor in Maenporth, I was off to Penzance. Growing up exposed to Gilbert and Sullivan, I was eager to visit the city whose name is immortalized in one of my favourite operettas, The Pirates of Penzance. Though I may not be the very model of a modern major-general, Penzance really is a spectacular town. Steep, narrow roads lined with houses; beaches, docks and busy shipyards.

Penzance has a peculiar yet very real charm about it. It was quirky and artsy while still being a beach destination and dockyard. Sometimes, you find a place you like yet you just can’t put your finger on the reason. That was the case with me in Penzance. I may just have to return one day to explore it further to figure that out. Maybe it just had the right feeling of the intangible place. Or, maybe I really am a modern major-general commanding my ship…
