Easy and Easygoing

While eating lunch, I met two other tent-wielding travelers, though, theirs was a Subaru, not a true North. Camping, playing music and exploring the NW before heading through California and on to Mexico, Sharon and David were both so friendly and relaxed, I was quickly told that if I ever found myself in Mammoth Lakes, CA–east of Yosemite–I had a place to stay. Finishing my lunchtime ocean frolic shortly after they, I returned to route 101, soon to meet another friendly sole.

Spying what appeared to be a prime ocean-viewing spot I again pulled over with camera at the ready. Michael–traveling across the US with his two daughters–quickly offered me his binoculars. “…and over there are hundreds of sea-lions.” Hundreds of them floating in the sea or climbing across the sharp rocks on their thick-skilled bellies.

The day continued with warm tailwinds, my three riding partners ever-present. Finally passing through Florence, I spent the night at the local State Park campsite. It really is the small, simple things that make it all worthwhile; easy miles and easygoing people.
